The monumental Citrus auction in Rotterdam was recently sold to Prime Pitch. This iconic building will be revived with the creative vision of The Men of Foam and developed by Miss Clark, who will transform it into The Citrus Club. This is the outcome of a competition, organised in 2022 by the former owner Port of Rotterdam, which was won by the consortium surrounding Prime Pitch.
The Citrus Club, planned as a versatile meeting place, will serve as a vibrant location for conferences, parties, presentations, film, theater, music and more. The space under the impressive auction room will be transformed into a hip restaurant, while space will also be reserved for innovative and creative office spaces.
The building on Marconistraat was built in 1951 – 1955, designed by Hugh Maaskant and Bert van Dommelen and has been a national monument since 2012.
The auction building is suitable for a large restaurant on the ground floor or other facility with added value for the entire area. The large auction room is very suitable as a location for larger meetings, presentations and lectures. The square in front of the citrus auction is one of the two large squares of M4H.
With this redevelopment, the consortium aims to position the Citrus Club as a new and recognizable focal point in the M4H area of Rotterdam. The unique combination of historic charm and modern functionality will contribute to the city's cultural and business landscape.
The purchase of the Citrus Auction fits in with Prime Pitch's strategy to redevelop buildings with an eye for history and building quality, with a future-oriented vision of operations and users.
As concept developers, the Mannen van Schuim have extensive experience at the intersection of creative building concepts and future-proof area development. Together with project developer Miss Clark, the vision will be translated into concrete redevelopment of the building and subsequent addition of an urban program as the keystone in the M4H area.
Prime Pitch, as the new owner, looks forward to working with local partners and the community to make the Citrus Club a thriving hub of activity. The redevelopment of this historic building promises to be an exciting addition to the dynamics of Rotterdam.
